Thai Yoga Massage Sequence
The following four pieces were developed as a soundscape to accompany Thai yoga massage. As such, these pieces are intentionally minimalist, and to be honest, a bit experimental as I played with sounds, techniques, and frequencies. The water sounds were recorded at Indian Kill Nature Preserve. Nine different layers or “textures” of waterfall/stream sounds are randomly blended with an evolving periodicity to ensure that the sound of the water is constantly changing.
Part I: Awakening
Imagine you are in a forest, next to a stream, in a reflective or meditative mood. You notice the water somewhat magically starting to hum, to vibrate, in harmony with your spirit. You hear the sound, but you understand that it is part of the water’s vibration. You notice that the sound has a natural gentle pulse, pacing the breathing. Relax into it and enjoy.
The selected notes were inspired by the Gregorian II Hypodorian mode (protus plagal) but as expressed here are too simple to be considered a Gregorian chant.

Part II: Enigma
The water, now that it has our attention, begins to gently speak to us, using melody patterns. It is probing us with conversation, to learn more about us and our needs.
Note that one of the melody motifs in this piece was inspired by Brian Eno’s piece “Discreet Music” and is likely recognizable as a direct derivative. Here I was experimenting with technique.
Part III: Transition
Now that it has interacted with us, the water understands that we need healing. This section is 417 Hz, to help with transition and erasing negative elements from the past.
Part IV: Awakening Intuition
Now that the healing frequencies have been delivered, the water beckons us deeper into awakening intuition with a gentle drone sequence at 741 Hz.
